Kitchens for real cooks

So you want a new fitted kitchen? The choice is baffling: you could have a painted kitchen, a wooden kitchen, a traditional kitchen, something more contemporary perhaps, solid wood worktops, granite worktops. And then there are all the appliances, tiling, lighting, and so on.

I've been designing and fitting bespoke kitchens in East Sussex for nearly thirty years and together with my team we have a huge knowledge base on which you can depend. Make use of our experience. You don't need to come to us with it all worked out. Allow us to do that with you. Time spent at the design stage is never wasted.

Choosing the right style

Look through the pictures on our web site. Trawl through the glossy magazines that feature bespoke kitchens. You'll find two distinct characters relating to the way the doors are hung: Framed and unframed. My advice is to choose the style that you are instinctively comfortable with.

Framed kitchens tend to be more traditional in appearance since it is the way cabinets have been made ever since doors were first used to cover up shelves. Doors are set into the frames with solid brass butt hinges. Very English, long lasting. Solid wood or hand painted.

The contemporary method of kitchen cabinet construction is sometimes called unframed. Doors are hung directly onto the carcass using concealed hinges. It costs less and gives a sleeker appearance. We use soft close hinges for a quiet life.

The Traditional style:

Doors are set into the frames with solid brass butt hinges. Very English, long lasting, lovely. Solid wood or painted.

The Contemporary style:

There is no frame and the hinges are concealed, for a more modern look. Clean, elegant and lower cost. Wood or painted.

The Design Process

If you find it hard to make up your mind about exactly what you want, please consult me. Time spent in discussion, even if it seems to spend ages going round and round in circles, could not be more valuable. After we've explored every possibility, you will be quite clear about what, deep down, you really want. And that's exactly what you should have.
