Nothing is more important in designing a kitchen than thinking about how exactly it will be used. Whose room, essentially is it going to be? "What difference does it make?", you might ask.

If you study, as I have, what people actually do when they're cooking, you find that the majority of movement is between the sink, the refrigerator and the hob. The classic work triangle.

Your kitchen should clearly be designed with this in mind (it's surprisingly often overlooked). If your kitchen is small, great attention should be given to the optimum use of space. Integrating the appliances will help the room feel larger.
