It’s time for a new fitted kitchen – the one you’ve always wanted. There are decisions to make and choices to consider – in fact the process can seem quite complicated. You might be thinking of a painted kitchen, a wooden kitchen, a traditional kitchen or something more contemporary; perhaps with solid wood worktops or granite worktops. And there are all the appliances to select: the tiling to arrange, lighting that will flatter and be practical; the list goes on.
I've been designing and fitting bespoke kitchens in Sussex and the South-East for nearly thirty years. Together with my team we have a huge amount of knowledge on which you can draw. Make use of our experience. You don't need to come to us with it all worked out. Allow us to talk it through with you. Time spent considering options at the design stage really is time well spent.
You probably have admired features in other people’s kitchens and in showrooms, as well as in pictures in lifestyle magazines and websites. Looking at bespoke kitchens you'll find two distinct characters and these relate to the way the doors are hung: ‘framed’ and ‘unframed’.
Framed kitchens tend to be more traditional in appearance. This is the way cabinets have been made ever since doors were first used to cover shelves. Doors are set into the frames with solid-brass butt hinges - very English looking and long-lasting. They can be solid wood or hand painted.
The contemporary method of kitchen cabinet construction is ‘unframed’. Doors are hung directly onto the carcass using concealed hinges. This method is less costly and it gives a sleeker appearance. We use soft-close hinges so that cupboard doors don’t bang.
