An indulgence or a return to old values? Maybe you want a kitchen that is as environmentally friendly as possible?
Some are not comfortable with beautiful solid oak doors fitted to melamine faced chipboard carcasses. Somehow it doesn't seem real, a bit of a sham perhaps. So for you we will make a kitchen from solid wood. Not a bit of chipboard or even ply. Just real wood all the way through and solid craftsmanship.
We use Oak or Cherry, Maple or Chestnut for the doors and good old-fashioned pine for the insides. By making the insides this way keeps the cost sensible. In fact our solid wood kitchens only cost about a third more than our standard framed kitchens. Still less than the big name kitchens!
Even the bottoms of the drawers are made from solid pine and they glide on the most advanced ball bearing runners we can find for years of trouble free use.
The pine interior is sealed with a special clear lacquer to make it easy to wipe clean. We use water borne lacquer as it is kinder to the environment than the solvent based lacquer normally used.
Wall cabinets are hung on completely concealed adjustable brackets for a perfect fit. Floor standing cabinets stand on sturdy adjustable feet.
All the wood we use comes from managed forests in Europe, Scandinavia and North America. We avoid the use of Indonesian, South American and African timbers as it is very difficult to ensure that they come from sustainable sources.
